Dr. Frank Johnson
From SEHS, I went to Oklahoma Baptist University along with my highschool sweetheart,
Laurena Richard (Crooked Oak 68). We were married in 1969 (which means we will
celebrate our 39th this October). We left Oklahoma after graduating from OBU in 1972.
Along the way, we’ve lived in Washington, D.C. (graduate school), Pensacola, FL, Denver,
CO, and Key West, FL (U.S. Navy), Boston, MA (more graduate school), Costa Rica,
Guatemala and Canada (International Mission Board).
Along with seeing a bit of the world, we had three children in our travels. Joy was born in
Key West, Sally in Boston and Gene in Guatemala. Joy (wedding in August 2008) and Sally
(married in October 2007) live in Boston and Gene (single) lives in Portland, OR. No
grandchildren yet, but we have great hopes.
We returned to Oklahoma in 1999 and Laurena started teaching for the Oklahoma City
Public Schools. In 2000, I started my own translation and interpreting company

I became a certifed Spanish-English translator in 2001. I enjoy translation, but I discovered
that I enjoy teaching even more. I started teaching as an adjunct Spanish professor at
Southern Nazarene University (SNU) in 2002, and then from 2003-2005, taught as an
adjunct at OSU-OKC and OCCC as well as at SNU while continuing to run my business. In
2005, I had the opportunity to teach full time at SNU, so I brought on a partner to run the
business and became Assistant Professor of Spanish and Chair of the Modern Languages
Department at SNU.
Unfortunately, I do not think we will be able to make the reunion activities because one of
my students is getting married that evening and we have been invited to the wedding.
However, I look forward to reading everybody’s biographies.
